46. Something for the Weekend: Rubicks “Worship”

Rubicks "Worship" (2010)

With their second album, Rise of the Giddy, soon to emerge (at last), London electro-rock foursome Rubicks recently filmed a video for the single “Worship”.

Although technically “Worship” was released at the tail end of last year, it was this Spring before a video was launched for the single and while at times it presents itself as deliberately confused and epileptic, this effort sees Rubicks take on a rather oblique and stark direction.

The video, juggling chopped images, reduced frame rates and strobe lighting tells only of a empty nightmare, punishing one for errs of life in death.
For comparison, just imagine the feeling one has when they have consumed three pizza’s in a row.

While certainly not revolutionary in the grand scheme of modern electropop, it is still a great signifier of the progress that Rubicks have made since becoming a full band.
